colorado

Colorado is what most people envision when they think of the Rocky Mountain Region, full of majestic, snow capped mountains and winter sports. Additionally, Colorado is home to four national parks: Rocky Mountain, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Mesa Verde and Great Sand Dunes.

Rocky Mountain Region

montana

Montana is the “Big Sky State” and has the feel of uncharted frontier. Great skiing mountains, fly fishing and Glacier National Park.

  • Glacier National Park
  • Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument

north dakota

North Dakota embraces the fact that a lot of people never make it there to visit. We haven’t taken the kids yet, but I look forward to visiting when we make it up north.

  • Theodore Roosevelt National Park

south dakota

The most recognizable mountain carving of Mt Rushmore is located in South Dakota. Also, it is home to Badlands and Wind Cave National Park. Additionally, Custer State Park is amazing and should probably be a national park, except I expect that the locals don’t want to let the secret out.

utah

Utah is home to the “Big 5” national parks that are famous. Additionally, the state has a unique history with the largest Mormon population in the world. You can visit the religious sites in Salt Lake City.

  • Arches National Park
  • Bryce National Park
  • Canyonlands National Park
  • Capitol Reef National Park
  • Salt Lake City
  • Zion National Park

wyoming

Wyoming is home to the United State’s first ever national park, Yellowstone. It is a huge park and houses some of the most unique geysers and thermal features. Additionally, just to the south is Grand Teton National Park and definitely worth a visit as well.
