New England 2 Week Itinerary

Day 1 – Scranton, PA and Dunder Mifflin
We drove from Cincinnati, OH to Scranton, PA. Additionally, “The Office” fans will recognize Scranton as the home of Dunder Mifflin! Also, we had dinner at Alfredo’s Pizza Café (not Pizza by Alfredo) and visited the Dwight Schrute mural and the Dunder Mifflin paper mill tower.
Day 2 – Hartford, CT and the Mark Twain House
We to the Mark Twain House in Hartford, CT. Also, we drove to meet some friends who live in the Boston suburbs. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to see more in Connecticut, so we will have to spend more time on our next visit.
Day 3 – Boston: Lexington and Concord
We spent a half day visiting the Minute Man National Historic Site in Concord, MA. Also, we stopped at the main visitor center (which has a great video). Afterwards, we visited the North Bridge site and visitor center. However, with a full day, I would have liked visiting the Lexington battle green as well.
Day 4 – Boston: The Freedom Trail and Boston Tea Party Museum
We started with walking around the Boston Square and Public Gardens. Next, we started at the beginning of the Freedom Trail (State House, Park St Church, Granary cemetery, King’s Chapel, Old Corner Bookstore and Old South Meeting House). Lastly, we had a 4:30pm tour reservation at the Boston Tea Party Museum.
Day 5 – Boston: The USS Constitution and The Paul Revere House
We started with the USS Constitution NHS, USS Cassin Young and USS Constitution Museum. Next, we took the ferry from nearby Charlestown Navy Yard to Long Wharf . Lastly, we resumed the Freedom Trail (Old State House, Faneuil Hall, Paul Revere House, Old North Church and drove by Bunker Hill).
Day 6 – Boston: Salem and Marblehead
We started with Salem and did a tour of the House of Seven Gables, visited the Salem Witch Memorial, the Salem Witch Museum tour and the Salem Maritime NHS. Also, we lunched at the Salem Willows Park and then drove to Marblehead to walk around Fort Sewall.
Day 7 – Drive to Acadia National Park, Maine
On the drive to Acadia, we drove part of the coast and stopped in York to visit the Nubble Lighthouse. Also, we stopped for a couple of hours at the Desert of Maine before continuing to our Acadia campsite, Smuggler’s Den.
Day 8 – Acadia: Beehive, Sand Beach and The Bass Head Harbor Lighthouse
We started our first day by hiking the Beehive Trail, followed by wading in the Atlantic at nearby Sand Beach. Additionally, after lunch we hiked the Wonderland Trail and Bass Head Harbor Lighthouse.
Day 9 – Acadia: Diver Ed, Bar Harbor and Cadillac Mountain
We started the day with the Diver Ed tour. Afterwards, we stopped for lunch in Bar Harbor and then visited Town Beach to search for sea glass. Additionally, we stopped at the visitor center to pick up Jr Ranger books. Lastly, we did a 7pm reservation to Cadillac Mountain and stayed for the sunset.
Day 10 – Acadia: Jordan Pond and Thunder Hole
On our final day, we hiked the Jordan Pond Loop trail. Afterwards, we had a lunch reservation for the Jordan Pond House, including the famous popovers. Also, we stopped at Thunder Hole and drove park loop road as it was rainy the rest of the afternoon.
Day 11 – Drive to Quebec City, Canada
Additionally, after leaving Acadia, we drove to Quebec City, crossing at the Jackman Port of Entry.
Day 12 – Quebec: Citadel, Chateau Frontenac and Museum of Civilization
We started with a tour of the Citadel. Afterwards, we walked to Chateau Frontenac, but it started raining so we stopped for lunch. Also, we toured the Museum of Civilization and then the Place Royale and Rue du Petit Champlain. Lastly, we took the funicular back.
Day 13 – Quebec: Morrin Centre, Montmorency Falls and Saint Anne de Beaupre
We went back to the city and did a tour of the Morrin Centre (a prison, turned university, turned library). Additionally, we visited the Notre Dame de Quebec. Also, after lunch, we drove to Montmorency Falls. Lastly, we stopped for a visit to Saint Anne de Beaupre.
Day 14 – Vermont: Ben and Jerry’s
We drove to Burlington (crossing at the Highgate Springs Port). Also, we stopped for a Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream factory tour.
Day 15 – The White Mountains: Flume Gorge and the Kancamagus Highway
The first day we went to the Flume Gorge. Then, we drove the Kancamagus Highway. Additionally, on the drive, we stopped to hike to Sabbaday Falls, Rocky Gorge and Lower Falls.
Day 16 – The White Mountains: Mt Washington Auto Road
On the second day, we drove up Mt Washington Auto Road. Additionally, while cooling the brakes on the drive down, we hiked part of the Appalachian Trail. Also, we stopped at the Basin trail and Old Man of the Mountain Plaza.
Day 17 – Drive to Niagara Falls
We had wanted to stop to see the falls at night. However, it turned out to be Canada day and everything was extremely busy. Unfortunately, we decided to just wait until morning.
Day 18 – Niagara Falls: Journey Behind the Falls
On our final day, we did the first 9am tour of Journey Behind the Falls and then drove home to Cincinnati.
