The Strip

Be forewarned, I did not love Las Vegas. Many people will disagree since it is the most popular city to visit in the United States. Someone is trying to sell you something everywhere you go. Every casino is filled with the smell of cigarette smoke. It was to the point where my eyes were so bloodshot that I couldn’t wait to get out into the fresh air.

My wife and I spent a couple of days in Death Valley before arriving in Las Vegas. And I was wishing I was back in Death Valley the whole time I was in Las Vegas.

Freemont Street

I thought that Fremont Street with the older, historic casinos might be the respite I needed. However, the “Fremont Street Experience” has covered the entire street in a contemptible giant LED screen with flashing lights and ads. And the smoke is exponentially worse than it was in the strip as the buildings all have much lower ceilings.

See a Show

We saw Cirque du Soleil, “O”. It is all themed around an adjustable depth water pool, filled with acrobatics and diving. There is really no plot to the show and the story is only there to compliment the cirque-themed jumps and dives, which is fine since that is the highlight of the show. Undoubtedly, it is incredibly amazing what the performers can do.

See the Bellagio Fountains

It is just a water fountain, so don’t get too excited. But the water shoots up to different songs and it is kind of interesting. At least it is outside so you can breathe what I wouldn’t call fresh air, but it is much better than being stuck inside somewhere in Las Vegas. Additionally, in the half dozen times we stopped by the fountains, it was always playing a different song.

Restaurants

There are a lot of restaurants in Las Vegas. If you love The Food Network, every celebrity chef each has around a half a dozen restaurants here.

We went to Bautista’s Hole in the Wall Italian off of the strip. It was actually really good, and it was nice to get a couple of blocks off of the strip.

Additionally, we also ate at Mon Ami Gabi in the Paris. The food was okay, but the outdoor seating overlooks the Bellagio Fountains so you can watch them while you are eating.

However, I didn’t get any pictures of a restaurant, so here is a picture of the Bellagio garden.

Get Married

Las Vegas is your place if you want to get married in the same spot as Michael Jordan. We walked from the strip to Fremont Street. It is around 4 miles. The bonus is you walk by some of the wedding chapels. We saw two or three couples who had just gotten married and we gave them our congratulations. This walking route will also take you past Silver and Gold pawn shop from the show “Pawn Stars”.

ALSO CONSIDER VISITING THESE NEARBY AREAS

If you still think that you want to go to Las Vegas after reading this entire post, ask yourself a question. Do you love smoking, gambling, or smoking while gambling? Then you will love Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas airport has a lot of flights and there are so many amazing places nearby like Death Valley, The Grand Canyon, Red Rocks State Park, and Zion National Park. So my suggestion is… fly into Las Vegas and get out as fast as you can. Safe Travels!
