Center of Science and Industry

Better known as COSI, the Center of Science and Industry is the premier STEM learning museum in the Midwest. It is a unique museum that kids will enjoy, and they will definitely learn a thing or two.

There is a mouse demonstration in the main area. Additionally, the mice are trained to play miniature basketball. Kids will love the show and there is also audience participation. Check the showtimes when you arrive.

Also, the museum includes special exhibits. There was a mythical creatures exhibit when we visited. Also, it featured the mythology of mermaids and unicorns. Additionally, there was a Jim Henson exhibit, which had a lot of props, including some of the Muppets.

Columbus Zoo

The Columbus Zoo is about 30 minutes north of downtown Columbus. Zoombezi Bay is a waterpark that is directly next door.

In addition to the animals, the zoo has a boat ride that goes through various dinosaur statues. There was also a trained animal show, Surfin’ Safari, that the kids really enjoyed. Unfortunately, the show was permanently closed during the pandemic.

The Wilds

A lot of people in Ohio don’t know about it, but The Wilds is located a little over an hour from Columbus. It is the closest you can get to an African safari without going to Africa. Also, it is affiliated with the Columbus Zoo and includes almost 10,000 acres of preserve dedicated to species conservation.

There are different tour options you can take to explore. There are also options to spend the night in the park, but they are expensive.

If you have ever been to Columbus, you know that the city is heavily centered around university. Ohio State sports, especially football, is life here. However, make sure to stop by campus and visit one of the largest universities in the country.

I attended a wedding here a long time ago and it was beautiful. I’d love to go back again.

Thurman Cafe

I don’t normally review restaurants, but this may be the best burger I’ve ever eaten in my entire life! Worth the effort to visit in the German Village, south of downtown.
