545travel.com is what I use to keep track of our family travel. I’m not someone who quit my job to travel the world, I’m just a dad who enjoys taking vacations with my family whenever I can. If you are looking for ideas, check out a list of our travel itineraries and hopefully it can help.

I’ve been to all 50 states and now I hope to get my kids the same experience. Therefore, a lot of this content focused mainly on family travel in the United States and the National Parks. For any questions or site corrections, please contact us.

Family Travel

The focus of this site is family travel in the United States. Also, I listed the regions the same way as the National Park Passport book, which are shown on the map. However, I have split out Alaska and Hawaii into their own sections and included Washington D.C. with the Mid-Atlantic region for ease of planning.

Also, if you don’t have a passport book, you can pick them up at most NPS sites and it is a fun way to document your travel. Additionally, if you are visiting multiple national parks, monument and historic sites, it probably makes sense to buy an annual America the Beautiful pass.

July 2025

  • 7/13/2025 – We just returned from a soccer camp in Denver for my daughter. In addition to Denver, we were able to go rafting on the Clear Creek. Additionally, we visited Arches, Canyonlands, and Rocky Mountain National Parks. I’ll be adding pages for all of them eventually, but will probably be in August as we have a weekend trip to Chicago and a family week in Myrtle Beach coming up the next few weeks.

June 2025

  • 6/19/2025 – I know that when I visited the Outer Banks, it was hard differentiating the different areas, so I create a page, Best Island in Outer Banks. Be sure to read to learn which one is the best!

APRIL 2025

  • 4/29/2025 – I finished updating the details of our trip in my Outer Banks 1 Week Itinerary! Be sure to check it out and email me if you have any questions.
  • 4/22/2025 – It’s been a while since I’ve posted, but we had a great trip in the Outer Banks! Trip Itinerary is coming soon and I’ve been busy planning some vacations for 2025 including a weekend in Traverse City / Leelanau, Michigan area, a summer soccer camp with a few days in Moab, Arches and Canyonlands, a family trip to Myrtle Beach, and a winter break trip to Universal Studios (including a their new site, Epic Adventure!). 

March 2025

  • 3/11/2025 – Back from a great week of skiing, skied my #1 and #5 favorite ski resorts with some fresh powder! Also booked a beginner hang gliding lesson for OBX in spring break!
  • 3/1/2025 – A lot planned for March, I’ll be skiing for a few days in Utah, Park City and Snowbird. And then we are heading to Outer Banks, NC, for spring break! We booked a beginner hang gliding course that looks super cool through Kitty Hawk Kites

February 2025

  • 2/15/2025 – I added a page for the Best Things to Do in the Everglades from our recent visit!
  • 2/9/2025 – My computer died so I was limited the last week, but now I have a new computer and just getting everything back up and running.

January 2025

  • 1/31/2025 – We had so much fun bird-watching in the Everglades! In fact, my wife said she could picture us as a retired, old couple traveling to bird watch. I create a new page that lists all of the 20 birds we spotted in the Everglades!
  • 1/29/2025 – I added a new article, the Best Way to Camp comparing Tent, Trailer and RV!
  • 1/20/2025 – I added our trip itinerary from our most recent vacation, Florida 1 Week Itinerary Disney and the Everglades!
  • 1/14/2025 – Today is the 2 year anniversary of 545Travel.com, it has been such a fun time documenting all these adventures! I added the first review of 2025 and it includes our Jones Lagoon Tour at Biscayne National Park, it was a lot of fun!
  • 1/11/2025 – Happy New Year 2025! We got back from Florida, albeit a day late due to the huge snow storm to Ohio. We had a fabulous time and reviews of the Everglades, Biscayne and Kennedy Space Center will be coming soon!
